CO₂nsequences: ECCC March 2025 Newsletter

As we mark Women’s History Month this March, we reflect on the outsized role women play in solving the climate change, and the disproportionate impact the crisis has on women and their children. Climate change is accelerating, and we must meet the moment.. Democrats Abroad invites you to join our efforts in pushing back through our new, strategic Resistance Roundtables.

Internationally, the current administration has now pulled billions of dollars pledged to the COP28 Loss and Damage fund. The world is rolling out a Plan B, nonetheless, for fighting global warming, and local states governments are working hard to lead the climate fight. States and organizations are also pushing back in courts across the nation and seeing tangible results.

To follow the roll out of Project 2025, check out this excellent Project 2025 Tracker! Our eyes must be open and our resolve unified. Many of these initiatives intersect with the state of our environment and its impact on our health. We urge all of you to contact your representatives to vote ‘NO’ on the misguided S.A.V.E. ACT, which will threaten our voting rights and those across the nation. Critically, our greatest power is in our vote. Make sure you are registered through votefromabroad.org every year and vote in all elections for which you are eligible. There are important state and local elections coming up in 2025; in FL, VA, NJ, TX, WI, PA, and NY.

As DOGE and the Administration gut our federal agencies and endangers the health of people and planet, both in the U.S. and worldwide, join Democrats Abroad and other activists in defending democracy. Our resistance advocacy starts with educating ourselves and appreciating that action, both big and small, has impact. This month we will take a deep dive into how our personal finances and affiliations with certain banks impact environmental accountability. Please join the ECCC for our March Climate Café (3.20), Flipping Banks: Paths to Sustainable Finance. The struggle for climate action CANNOT pause; it is vitally tied to our freedom and health. Our resistance must grow from the ground up. Your voice and your actions are more critical than ever.

Thank you for speaking out and showing up, for volunteering, and living a greener life at this critical time!

Dana Freling

Chair, DA Environment & Climate Crisis Council

Please join the ECCC for our March Climate Café on March 20th at 11:00am ET/5:00pm CET, with guest, Larry Moffet, which will explore how we can exert personal power in shaping financial systems and its environmental accountability.

Now is a critical time to step up for climate action and our democracy. Fighting climate change means fighting poverty and equalities of all kinds. We can help guide each other, joining activist groups both within Democrats Abroad. We can write our representatives, local, state, and federal and both Republican and Democratic. These actions, however small, add up. Sign up for weekly actions, resistance roundtables, and more! You’ll find everything, big and small, on this page: Do Something
